BUREAU POLICY FILE // PUBLIC ACCESS STANDARD
Accessibility Statement
Last reviewed September 2, 2026
Bureau Obscura is committed to making its website, Field Recovery service, account experience, and purchasing journey usable by people with disabilities. Our ongoing target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA.
Measures we take
Accessibility work for the Bureau includes:
- semantic headings, landmarks, labels, and status messages;
- keyboard access, visible focus indicators, and a skip-to-content link;
- support for text enlargement, narrow screens, and reduced-motion preferences;
- text alternatives for meaningful images and hidden treatment for decorative imagery;
- contrast review for text, controls, errors, disabled states, and focus indicators; and
- automated checks plus manual keyboard review of important customer journeys, with assistive-technology testing added as the service evolves.
Third-party services
Parts of the customer journey, including identity verification, checkout, payment, and certain account functions, are provided by Shopify or other third parties. We work to choose and configure those services accessibly and will help identify an alternative way to complete a task when a third-party barrier is reported.
Known limitations and continuous improvement
Accessibility is an ongoing practice, not a one-time certification. A browser, assistive-technology combination, newly released feature, or third-party component may present an issue we have not yet identified. We review important journeys as the site changes and prioritize barriers that prevent access to information, account functions, recovery generation, or checkout.
Request assistance or report a barrier
If you encounter an accessibility barrier or need information in another format, email dispatch@bureauobscura.com with “Accessibility request” in the subject line. If possible, include:
- the page address or name of the feature;
- a short description of the problem;
- the browser and assistive technology you were using; and
- the format or method that would help you complete the task.
Do not include passwords, verification codes, payment information, medical details, or other sensitive information. We will make reasonable efforts to respond promptly, provide an accessible alternative, and remediate the barrier. Accessibility requests do not require a purchase or marketing subscription.
